BQ09- Calcite. Zhudi lead-zinc mine, Zhudi Village, Liancheng County, Longyan Prefecture, Fujian province, China.

Excellent new Calcite. It is composed of two main large flattened prismatic crystals of Calcite with hexagonal shapes and a marked zoning. The main crystal measures 4 cm x 3.5 cm. On matrix of dark grey limestone. These Calcites are known as "sandwich Calcites". The tabular crystals have a translucent zone sandwiched between two milky white zones. Under long wave UV light this form of Calcite is highly fluorescent with a beautiful rich orange glow.
