BP04 – Calcite. Longyan, Fujian province, China.
New find from China. Group of well formed prismatic crystals of Calcite with hexagonal shapes and a marked zoning, these Calcites are known as "sandwich Calcites". The crystals have a light pink color in the center sandwiched between two zones with whiter sades on the edges. Under long wave UV light this form of calcite is highly fluorescent with a beautiful rich orange glow. Great contrast to the matrix of blackish grey limestone. Excellent Calcite from a new discovery in China. The condition is very good as seen.
